Shirakawa-cha Premium Hojicha is made by roasting Sencha leaves over high heat.
It is made from large leaves harvested during the first and second flushes in Shirakawa Town, before summer.
Unlike hojicha made primarily from tea stems, this Hojicha uses whole tea leaves, giving it a richer and fuller flavor with more depth and umami.
High-temperature roasting brings out its rich, roasted aroma and deep flavor, giving this Hojicha its distinctive character.
It's popular with children and the elderly, as it has less caffeine than regular green tea.
50g /1.8oz tea leaf = 10-13 times.
100g / 3.5oz tea leaf = 20-25 times.
