Shirakawa-cha Premium Houji-cha is made by roasting rough Sencha leaves over high flame.
In general, hojicha is made by roasting Bancha (off-specification, low-grade or harvested after summer) or Kukicha (low-grade tea leaves with stem).
But Shirakawa-cha premium hojicha is made from only the first and second green tea leaves which were harvested before summer in Shirakawa Town.
As a result, the tea leaves are mainly of good quality and have a deep aroma and rich flavor, and the color is a warm-blown color.
It’s popular with children and the elderly, as it has less caffeine than regular green tea.
